Making Your Home Feel More Spacious-image

Here at Mesa Falls, we offer apartments with square footage ranging from 690 to 1100! We absolutely love having so much space, especially in our one bedroom apartment. However, if there is anything I’ve learned from apartment living over the past 5 years, it’s that the more you accumulate, the less space you have. Eventually, no matter how much space you start out with, you start to feel cramped. Here are 6  ways to make your home feel more spacious.  Less is More! Less is more in many ways, but overall, Less things = more space. Start your journey by throwing some things out.  There are a couple of methods for this. One is to hold each item and determine if it gives you joy. If not, toss it. Another is to throw out anything you haven’t used in the last 6 months (this one is especially helpful with clothing). Try the 20/20 method: if it is something you truly need that can be replaced (and needs to be) for $20 within 20 minutes of your home, go ahead and toss that as well. If you get stumped on ideas to declutter, there are plenty of ideas on Google!   Store Up! Not out.       There are a handful of items in the everyday household that can be stored upwards that aren't. Blankets, for example, we can commonly find are taking up too much space. A blanket ladder is a common and trendy solution to this problem. If you have too many blankets for just one blanket ladder, consider getting a bookshelf to store them. Maybe a hollow footrest is more your style. Pinterest some ideas for your style of storage, but always remember you can store a lot when doing so upwards!   Simple decor      Let’s talk about Decor. The minimalist lifestyle isn’t for everyone, especially not me. I like a view on every wall, however, sometimes that view ends up taking away from the space. Don’t be afraid to move around your decorations or furniture when you start to feel cramped. If you feel like you have one too many chairs or couches, don’t be afraid to get rid of them. After all, less is more!   Use every space      There are many floorplans at Mesa Falls that include a laundry room or pantry with a lot of space. Utilize these! Add a bookcase or shelves of some sort and fill the space with the things you don’t want in your main living areas.       Specifically with the Private Falls, there is a nice space in the dining area, against the wall where a nice shelving unit would fit great! The Private Falls may not come with a pantry, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make one! There is also a great coat closet in the Private Falls, Bravura Falls, and Grand Falls. Just because it is called a coat closet doesn’t mean it can only be used  for coats. Use that as a pantry or extra storage.  Don’t forget that we also offer storage closets and garages. These are great spaces for large and seasonal items as well (think Holiday decorations, bikes, snowboards). If this peaks your interest, call the office!  ORGANIZE      If you have read some of my other blogs, you will know how much of an advocate I am of organization. Specifically giving everything a place. If everything has a spot to be returned to after use, the mess only accumulates a little and it’s easy to clean up. I am currently posting a series of organizing each room in your apartment. Check out this one for your bathroom , and keep an eye out for our next blog to see ideas on organizing your kitchen.   Reset Daily      Keeping a clean home can be difficult, especially when you are living with more people than just yourself. Remember that it’s okay for your home to look lived in, because it is lived in. Don’t hold yourself to an impossible standard of cleanliness. That being said, you can clean up each day by “resetting” the room. Change your mindset from “cleaning up after yourself” to “resetting for tomorrow”. This takes away any blame for a dirty area and changes it to acceptance that it is simply a used area. If it helps, number the tasks and do them in order. This takes away any overwhelming feelings.    If you have any other tips or tricks to making your home feel more spacious, share it with us and we will share it in our next blog! Share to: [email protected] and address it to Maigan.

How to Decorate Your Mesa Falls Apartment For the Holidays-image

Wintertime in Rexburg is by far the most magical. You can count on snow and Hemming Village is covered in beautiful, twinkling lights. The snow can make it difficult to travel to see those lights. That’s why we have come up with a few ways to fill your apartment home with holiday magic.    Apartment living in Rexburg, Idaho is a wonderful experience. Here is a list of some of the most prevalent holiday decorations and how to set them up in your Mesa Falls apartment home.    Lights         Lights are essential. A single string of lights can transform your apartment. Not only can they be placed around a tree but they can also accent your other holiday decorations. Place Light behind your stockings or tucked inside your wreath.    Another place to place lights is around your windows. The Mesa Falls apartments have large windows in every bedroom. Placing lights around your windows will spread holiday cheer to your Rexburg neighbors because they will be able to see the lights from your window.      Stockings    In the Luxury Falls apartment , it’s easy to decide where to set up the stockings. There is a beautiful fireplace located in the spacious living room of the apartment.    For other floorplans, there is an extension of the countertop in the kitchen. Every floor plan at Mesa Falls has this feature and it is an excellent way to add a splash of holiday to your apartment home.    Tree Here is the Great Falls floor plan . It is our 2-bedroom by 1-bathroom unit. Here are a few locations to place your tree. Having the tree in the kitchen is a good idea especially if you have a real tree. Real trees smell amazing but the needles fall constantly. Having the tree in the kitchen is a great way to easily clean up those needles.    Another great place is the living room. The living room in the Great Falls floor plan is spacious for an apartment home. It is also right next to the beautiful patio door. Having the tree near the patio window will allow the magical lights to be enjoyed by all of your neighbors.

Organizing Your Rexburg Apartment Pantry!-image

Organizing Your Rexburg Apartment Pantry!    I think everyone’s ideal goal to live their best life is organization. Keeping your space neat & organized, helps your space feel more like a home. The one thing that tends to get the most unorganized is the pantry! Here are a few ways to optimize your pantry & stay organized.   (Featured image from Mesa Falls)   Small Spaces Can Still Mean More Room   When renting, finding the perfect pantry space isn’t always easy. A key factor to creating this organization is imagining what could be used as an additional space if there is lack thereof. Say you have a washer & dryer room that is connected to your kitchen & not much cabinet space. Save the cabinet space for your pans, dishes, & cutlery. Create your own pantry space by adding a shelving unit that fits in a space you desire. Adding this will help create the even balance of optimizing as much space as possible without overcrowding your kitchen. Another great thing is hanging plants, pots, or utensils instead of resting them on countertops. By using a renter friendly hanging device, you will be able to keep your cooking area cleared & within reach.    (Featured image from Ksmartstyling.com)   Double The Size of Your Pantry   Say when you put the oreos in the pantry & it just does not give the appeal you were looking for. Well, Khloe Kardashian had an iconic way of taking her organizing to new heights. Take a clear jar or vacuum seal container & organize your cookies in a beautiful stacked array to showcase in your pantry. Now some people would probably say that making a display pantry isn’t their number one priority. However, this just adds to the ambiance of creating a clutter free space! Take it to the next level by organizing with clear acrylic containers. Section off your pre-packaged snacks in the way that makes the most sense to your needs. For example, keeping oatmeal packets with the granola bars for a breakfast section. Or, keeping your chips & crackers together; however you would like to spice up your containers!  Condensing Is Key to Formality!   If you noticed, the main ingredient to creating this ideal space is by taking all the key components that add to your pantry, snacks, & drinks. Just remember, condense & create a home for all of your things. Including the items that live in your pantry!

Mesa Falls Floor Plans Perks-image

Choosing the right apartment community is no small feat. However, even after you've chosen Mesa Falls Apartments, you still have to make some more major decisions. For starters, what floor plan catches your eye the most? If you're flexible, it can be challenging to choose the perfect floor plan for you. Here are the best perks about each floor plan we have. Private Falls  1 bedroom, 1 bathroom 690 SQ FT The Private Falls unit is our only 1-bedroom unit, so that alone is a perk itself. When walking into the Private Falls unit, you'll see a spacious living room alongside a coat closet. The balcony in this floor plan is also slightly longer than some of our other larger floor plans. The major benefit of leasing a Private Falls unit in the bedroom. The Private Falls bedroom holds the title of the largest bedroom in the complex. King, California King, and Queen sized beds all fit extremely comfortably in this room. This room also has a walk-in closet, and the bathroom is connected to the bedroom, so you won't have to leave your room to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Great Falls  2 bedroom, 1 bathroom 890 SQ FT Onto the next floor plan! The Great Falls unit is one of our most popular floor plans due to its layout. This floor plan features a spacious kitchen with an extended countertop for bar space and more than enough room to prepare and cook food. If you value having a separate, spacious dining space to host, this is the floor plan for you. The Great Falls unit only gets better as you keep walking through it. A hidden gem of the Great Falls unit is its extra storage and pantry space. This unit comes with two separate designated spaces for laundry and storage items.  Bravura Falls 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms 890 SQ FT The Bravura Falls unit is very similar to the Great Falls unit in a lot of ways, but the differences that set it apart make a major impact. The Bravura Falls unit has TWO bathrooms, one of which is directly connected to the first bedroom. These bathrooms can make a huge difference to renters. The living room is about the same spacious size as the Great Falls. It also has even more cabinet storage space than the Great Falls floor plan does. The Bravura also has a coat closet which is extremely convenient. As always, it comes with a balcony and/or patio. Luxury Falls 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms 1100 SQ FT Our Luxury Falls floor plan is nothing short of its name - it's luxury living. This unit comes with a fireplace and an oversized living room. Not only does this unit come with an oversized living room; it comes with an oversized refrigerator and bathroom counter and storage space. The Luxury unit also has a coat closet, separate laundry room, and three large windows in the living room. The first bedroom suite has a huge walk-in closet with multiple shelves and it also contains three windows, similar to the living room, so there's always a lot of natural light. Grand Falls 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms 1100 SQ FT Last but not least, we have the Grand Falls unit. This unit is just as large as the Luxury Falls unit, but its third bedroom makes it special. This floor plan comes with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and separate dining space.  This unit still has a comfortable living room, oversized balcony, and a cozy bedroom suite. It has a separate laundry room, great for storage space. It also has the largest kitchen out of all the floor plans, and each of the bedrooms has at least one window.
